Furniture and cabinet finishes previously only obtainable with toxic, odorous, solvent based lacquers and stains, can now be achieved with the use of Faux Effects™ water borne Gold Label Line. These products not only make furniture finishing more manageable, but also provide durability and luster, exceeding that of traditionally, "production" finished pieces.

Faux Finish Showcases

This three day class is not elementary wood finishing, but designer showcase finishes that will enable you to decipher and replicate many of the high-end finishes seen in magazines and catalogs such as Horchow or Veranda. Prior experience with Faux Effects™ products is a pre-requisite to this class. Samples will be completed on a variety of surfaces including raised paneled doors, wood drawer fronts, and moldings.

Students will learn cost effective methods and techniques including proper surface preparation, priming, base coats, distressing, antique glazing, crackles, metallic leafing, aging processes, custom staining, burl, and top coat application.

Faux Spray System

Instruction will include hands on use of the FX2000 HVLP decorative spray system. We will also take an existing oak stained piece from drab "80's" oak stain to a modern day deep cherry or mahogany stained finish without stripping. Be prepared for 3 days of learning and fun, as well as beautiful portfolio additions to your repertoire that will dazzle designers and clients. Class may (probably will) run longer than usual, so come well rested.
